For Alboan, volunteering is a clear commitment and a fundamental pillar for our Mission. Both local and international volunteering promote the construction of global citizenship, in nearby contexts, or by building bridges and bringing realities together based on encounter experiences in countries in Africa, Asia or Latin America.

Volunteering is a channel and expression of citizen participation and a natural space for promoting active citizenship and contributes to the development of our Mission, seeking the transformation of society.

Our volunteers talk about Alboan

To volunteer at Alboan is to have a strong support system and an opportunity to do good. You are surrounded by compassionate people who want to leave the world a better place. There are a wide variety of causes to choose from, so there will always be a project you can help with.

Empathy has become a fundamental tool in my work as a volunteer, since I have learned to put myself in the shoes of others and understand their points of view from their own cultural contexts. Each culture brings a unique richness, and it is our responsibility to cultivate an environment where these differences are appreciated and respected.

I have always felt the need to do something to improve “the world” and, upon retirement, it seemed to me that my life would have more meaning if I contributed a bit to an organization. At Alboan, I contribute what I am and how I am, part of what I have. But, above all, I feel like I receive so much more. I thank Alboan for the welcome, always feeling comfortable and invited to everything. I would also highlight the good people I have found in Alboan, always welcoming.
