“Acuerpadas” Premieres in Bilbao: A Story That Touches Us Deeply

This premiere left us with a message: the struggle of women human rights defenders is also our struggle.
«Acuerpadas» se estrena en Bilbao

Last Thursday, Bilbao hosted the premiere of “Acuerpadas: until justice is served,” a documentary produced by Alboan, ERIC-Radio Progreso, and Panarama that shares the testimonies of Honduran women who defend their land and human rights. And what took place there was much more than just a screening: it was a collective act of listening, remembrance, and commitment.

More than just a film: an invitation to come together

The Golem Alhóndiga auditorium was packed. People of all ages, partner organisations, the educational community, volunteers and many friends of Alboan gathered to watch this documentary for the first time – a film born out of a journey to Honduras and which connects with many other stories from around the world.

The rapt silence during the film, the sustained applause and the conversations following the screening made it clear: "Acuerpadas. Until justice is served" leaves no one indifferent. It is a story that is both intimate and collective, placing at its heart the voices of women who resist, look after one another and organise themselves to defend life in territories ravaged by dispossession, violence and exile.

Following the premiere, Alboan sent out a clear message: this story does not end with the credits. "Acuerpadas" is part of a longer journey—one of cooperation and networking alongside women from Honduras, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Venezuela. Many of them face threats for defending their communities. Standing by them requires resources, partnerships and, above all, a network of people who stand together across borders.
