500 years ago a stream of life which has reached the most remote parts of the planet emerged in Javier. This stream, embodied in Francis Xavier, brought a message of universal fraternity. The announcement of the gospel of Jesus Christ, to which Xavier devoted his life, within the unavoidable cultural determinants of the period, carried the seed of a human society which aspired to live in reconcile and sought the recognition of the dignity of all human beings.
The aims of the Conference of “Homecoming and Encounter” are:
1. To know how Christian communities all over the world integrate their experience of faith and service in favour of a life of dignity and justice.
2. To discern the meaning of those experiences for the life of the whole Church and to examine the relationship between the European Church and the Churches in the traditionally called “missionary territories”.
