We work in the south of Gujarat Indian State
know their own rights as local indigenous people
Khedut Vikas Manda ls an organization that works south of Gujarat Indian State. Supported by Alboan, Khedut Vikas Manda is focused on returning back to the adivasi community (local indigenous people) the faculty to execute their rights and to be aware about them, what is known as political empowerment
Gujarat state government has different aid programs dedicated to adivasi people (local indigenous people) and dalit people (low caste or no caste people). Anyway, those programs are barely known among local people due to the low announcement that the Government makes out of them. In this way adivasi people hardly know their own rights as local indigenous people. Thos rights include positive action policies designed to compensate back the historical discrimination that they have suffered and that they still presently suffer
Khedut Vikas Mandal’s target is to face this unawareness and give to the local adivasi people the right tools so that they can be aware of the structural discrimination that they are suffering and know which are their rights, in order to claim for them to Government
Focused on the mentioned awareness, the organization is developing different activities; among those activities we can remark the next ones:
- Social diagnose to identify rural communities necessities
- Strengthen social mobilization thought: Meetings, street activities, awareness and sensibilization programs, etc.
- Capacitating and training programs for village leaders, in order to strength government structure programs and local programs for the community
- Political pressure and penetration tools development that consolidate adivasi community vindications
