Congo: A year in the context of elections begins

We want transparent elections with citizen participation.

On behalf of EurAC (European Network for Central Africa),within which ALBOAN takes part, we have made an announcement regarding the upcoming elections which will take place in 2011 in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In 2006, the network of European NGO´s who are involved in political impact in Central Africa, contributed towards the celebration of free and transparent elections in the DRC, having sent two teams of 120 international observers who worked side-by-side with the Congolese civil society. 

In this occasion, the intention is to accompany the electoral process in order to guarantee strong democratic quality in the 2011 elections, with the objective of legitimising the results and a strong mandate of the President elected by universal suffrage. As well as this, there is the intention of involving the UN in order to organise the logistical issues concerning the elections and to guarantee that the Congolese people can have their elections and express their opinions without restraint in transparent and free elections.
